Mr. Collins explained that the methodology is the same for both, however the civil service list is only good for 2 years whereas the reserve list allows candidates to be appointed as openings occur. The reserve list has no rankings for candidates, prompting Alderman Roche to request that the Administration consider using the civil service list when making appointments to the Fire Department. The 2 individuals being re-appointed have 9 months to move into the city, once hired. 190342 - Requesting the Appointment of Joseph Topol as Constable.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 190377 - That the City Solicitor report to the Committee on Confirmation of Appointments on the city’s residency requirement, as applicable to department heads, and explain the waiver process for those who do not reside in the city.: A written response was submitted to the committee from City Solicitor Frank Wright.
