Trane Ward Seven Alderman Present Omar Boukili Administrative Assistant Present Karthik Viswanathan CIO Present • General update of the City’s Information Technology Department Mr. Viswanathan gave a summary of the FY-11 initiatives and talked about the implementation of MUNIS. The initial phase of Munis was completed on July 1, 2010. Phase 2 implementation is scheduled for September 1, 2011 and Phase 3 implementation is scheduled for January 1, 2012. When completed, MUNIS will have modules for Auditing, Treasury, Purchasing, City Clerk, OSPCD, DPW and miscellaneous functions. The recent revamping of city’s website will provide for a reduction in ongoing maintenance and license costs, offer better caching and quicker page loads and give the user a better experience with existing and new modules while integrating with Google maps, Social media and web analytics. IT storage consolidation, capacity and usage growth, virtualization, E-Fax and smart phone applications were also discussed. Alderman Trane’s motion that the Administration consider establishing a partnership with another city or town to provide mutual assistance in the event of an Information Technology disaster, was approved.
