Open forum to discuss matters of concern to the city’s senior citizens.
The meeting was held at Brady Towers. Members addressed those present, explaining how the
committee, in conjunction with the Board of Aldermen, benefits the city’s senior citizens and
discussing the importance of the quality of life for seniors. Residents spoke about of areas of
concern.
The following motions were submitted and approved:
That the Director of Traffic and Parking explore the possibility of lengthening the time allowed
to cross the street at Elm Street and Bowers Ave in Davis Square.
That the Commissioner of Public Works repaint the lines in front of 252 Medford Street.
That the Chief of Police and the Director of Traffic and Parking enforce traffic regulations in and
around 252 Medford Street.
That the Commissioner of Public Works repave the crosswalk to the bus stop at 252 Medford
Street.
That the Director of Traffic and Parking explore the use of speed bumps and signage at 252
Medford Street to slow the flow of traffic.

That the Director of Traffic and Parking place a NO PARKING sign at the appropriate location
prior to the driveway at 252 Highland Avenue.
That this Board of Aldermen requests that the Director of the Somerville Housing Authority post
a NO THRU WAY sign at 252 Medford Street to prevent the property from being used as a cut
through.
That this Board of Aldermen requests that the Director of the Somerville Housing Authority
explore soundproofing measures at 252 Medford Street to reduce vehicular noise.
