DPW personnel are also involved in issuing citations for improperly stored trash. Residents from Pleasant and Summit Streets spoke about problems in the area and Mr. Nuzzo replied that both he and the Inspection Services inspectors performed examinations of the area and found no violations. Neighbors also complained about the condition of the property and a trash dumpster located at 64 Walnut Street, stating that they have been filing complaints for the past 3 years, only to be told by the city that no violations exist. Mr. Nuzzo also commented that there are variuos reasons for the rodent problem at Lincoln Park, primarily absentee landlords. The committee discussed the importance of having various departments share data and pool resources in order to effectively investigate and remedy problems with rodents. Ms. Renault-Caragianes will set up a meeting for the first week of July to have a rodent control presentation made.

Alderman Heuston’s motion that the Director of Constituent Services provide the Committee on Public Health and Public Safety with a list of calls made to 311, over the past 2 years, regarding the trash/dumpster problem at 64 Walnut Street, was approved. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 191362 - That the Commissioner of Public Works repair or replace all damaged or missing bricks in Davis Square to eliminate the public safety hazards they create.: Chairman White requested that a representative from OSPCD be present at the next committee meeting to discuss this item. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 191459 - That the Director of SPCD (ISD) provide the Ward 2 Alderman with a status of the condemned building at 294 Beacon Street.: Chairman White suggested that the Inspectional Services Department confer with the City Solicitor to pursue legal remedies, including obtaining a warrant to access the property. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 191460 - That the Chief of Police order a directed patrol to monitor 294 Beacon Street from dusk to dawn.: Captain Fallon reported on the directed patrols that have been in place since June 6th. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 190732 - MA Dept. of Public Health submitting a response to #190061 re: sudying the health impacts of pollution from Rt. 93.: RESULT: WORK COMPLETED
