The committee met at the West Somerville VNA. Those present were informed that the polling place has been moved to that location for the September 13th primary. Ms. Hickey spoke about some of the programs/events being offered by the Council on Aging, e.g., music therapy, dance, Thanksgiving dinner, monthly movies (with dinner) and a tour of the Christmas holiday lights in the city. Chairman Sullivan recognized Alderman Trane for his tireless efforts in advocating for senior housing. Residents addressed the committee about their concerns over the lack of signage on Mystic Valley Parkway, at the bottom of the roadway. Alderman Roche’s order that the Director of Traffic and Parking contact the MA Highway Department regarding the missing rotary sign and send a copy of the request to the City’s state delegation, was approved. Alderman Roche’s order that the City Clerk notify the Executive Director of the Somerville Housing Authority of the serious obstacle presented by the sidewalk not being handicap accessible outside of its newly acquired property on Alewife Brook Parkway, was approved.
