Chairman Sullivan noted that the Ward One Alderman is not opposed to the extended hours. 192028 - New Extended Operating Hours License, Mr. B’s Restaurant, 142 Cross St., Sun- Sat till 2AM for deliveries only.: RESULT: APPROVED 192029 - George O’Shea submitting comments re: George Dilboy Post 529, 371 Summer St., operating a commercial parking lot without a permit.: Mr. O’Shea, and other residents, addressed the committee and expressed concern that the parking area at the Dilboy VFW post is being operated as a commercial parking lot without the necessary permits. According to one resident, the DPW has been observed sweeping this lot and Mr. O’Shea believes that the owner of the lot should be paying the city for any services provided and should apply and pay for any necessary permits.
Committee Meeting October 26, 2011 Licenses and Permits Committee Page 2 of 3 Printed 10/27/2011 Mr. Nuzzo explained what evidence he would need in order to ascertain that the lot is being operated commercially and pointed out that this issue is a zoning matter. Solicitor Wright will investigate what agreement(s), if any, exist between the owner of the lot and the City and he will also determine if any fire code issues exist. Chairman Sullivan’s motion that the City Solicitor confer with the Fire Department, Planning Department and Inspection Services Department and contact representatives of the Dilboy Post for the purpose of determining the current use of the parking lot and obtaining any required permits, based upon the determination, was approved. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 192087 - Sign/Awning Permit, Sally O’Brien’s, 335 Somerville Ave., one awning.: Mr. Nuzzo will perform an inspection of the site. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 192088 - Sign/Awning Permit, Laundromax, 630 Somerville Ave., one sign.: Mr. Nuzzo will perform an inspection of the site. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 192094 - Renewing Outdoor Seating License, Amethyst Chiropractic Center, 259 Elm St., sandwich board.: RESULT: APPROVED 192095 - That the NStar principals involved in the May 17, 2011, Public Utilities and Works Committee meeting appear before this Board's Committee on Licenses and Permits on October 26, 2011, at 6 PM, to provide an update on the improvements and upgrades discussed at that meeting.: Mr. Zamparelli and Mr. Masci provided an update on NSTAR’s recent repairs and improvements and pointed out that in order to perform some of the work, some service interruptions would be required. The committee was assured that residents would be notified by NSTAR, in advance of planned outages. All of the work proposed by NSTAR should be completed by December 1st of this year. Mr. Zamparelli informed the members that information for customers is posted on NSTAR’s website.
