A discussion followed regarding possible reasons for a candidate to be by-passed, a candidate’s appeal process, associated legal ramifications and use of the reserve list. Chief Pasquarello informed the members that the timing of the Police Academy played a part in only 4 names being submitted for appointment. Members of the committee requested that the Administration provide the committee with information about how to avoid a similar situation in the future and information as to why the 7 names were withdrawn. The following candidates were interviewed and made aware of the City's residency requirement: Eli Kim, Patrick Canty, Joseph Rivera and Tyler Sousa. 193047 - Requesting that this Board's Committee on Confirmation of Appointments convene prior to this Board's next meeting to allow the Chief of Police and the Director of Personnel Dept. to inform the Board of a new procedure regarding student police officers.: RESULT: WITHDRAWN
