Mr. Zamparelli reported that NSTAR has 30 ready for remediation and 8 ready for transfer, bringing their count down to 5. The DPW will email the locations not on the list to the utility companies for appropriate action.
Committee Meeting September 19, 2012 Public Utilities and Public Works Committee Page 2 of 2 Printed 9/25/2012 RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 193752 - That the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer appear at the September 19, 2012 meeting of the Public Utilities and Works Committee to report on the failure of the utility companies to re-surface streets after opening them.: Mr. King reported on the requirements for repairing streets opened by utility companies and assured the members that the DPW closely monitors street repairs to ensure that the requirements are adhered to. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 193754 - That the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer appear at the September 19, 2012 meeting of the Public Utilities and Works Committee to report on Cedar Street sewer and drainage issues.: Mr. King and Mr. Koty reported that the estimated cost to resolve the drainage issues would be $2 to $2.5 million dollars and that they would consult with the Administration regarding how the work should be funded. This item will be re-visited at the October 10, 2012 meeting of the committee, and in the meantime, Chairman O'Donovan will submit a resolution asking the Administration to look into repairing the problem.
