Desmond Alderman At Large Present Stan Koty Commissioner, DPW Present 193750 - That the Commissioner of Public Works add the double poles at College Hill Avenue, Raymond and North Streets, Conwell Ave (between Curtis and Hillsdale), Chetwynd Road, Curtis Street and 9 Granite Street to his utility company “double pole” list, and that the Superintendent of Lines and Lights appear at the September 19, 2012 meeting of the Public Utilities and Works Committee.: Mr. Kelly & Mr. Bates spoke about the progress being made on Granite Street and said that the matter is currently being handled by attorneys for both parties in an effort to reach an agreement to rectify the situation. RCN has a fiberglass pole ready to be installed, but is waiting for a resolution. The number of double poles continues to improve. Mr. Bates reported that RCN has cleared its equipment from all but 5 poles and Mr. Kelly said that Comcast should have its equipment cleared of the 11 remaining poles by October 15th. The committee intends to meet every 2 weeks to monitor progress on this matter.

Committee Meeting October 10, 2012 Public Utilities and Public Works Committee Page 2 of 2 Printed 10/11/2012 RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 193752 - That the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer appear at the September 19, 2012 meeting of the Public Utilities and Works Committee to report on the failure of the utility companies to re-surface streets after opening them.: Chairman O'Donovan stated that the city has received several complaints about the condition of streets that have been opened for utility work. Mr. Nagle told the members that National Grid is aware of some of the streets and that the company has plans to address them adding that National Grid is trying to work with the city wherever and whenever possible. Mr. King stated that the city maintains a list of all street work and inspects the street repairs to ensure that they are repaired properly. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 193754 - That the Commissioner of Public Works and the City Engineer appear at the September 19, 2012 meeting of the Public Utilities and Works Committee to report on Cedar Street sewer and drainage issues.: Chairman O'Donovan asked Mr. King to prepare a brief report on this matter so that the information might be forwarded to resident affected by the problem. Mr. King discussed work planned for Union Square and noted that the drainage for Cedar Street actually flows through Union Square, adding that plans are to relocate the Cedar Street drainage to Elm Street. Mr. Koty told the members that the Administration may submit a bond request, in 6 months, for approximately $3.1 million dollars to cover the cost. (That figure does not include the design work.) RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE • Noise from Verizon facility Mr. Nuzzo was unable to attend this meeting (due to an emergency), however Mr. Usovicz told the members that he had a conversation with Mr. Nuzzo earlier in the day and informed him that Verizon has agreed to send personnel to the site to determine what remedial measures can be put in place. Chairman O'Donovan has placed this item on the agenda of the next committee meeting, scheduled for October 24, 2012 at 6:00 PM.
