There was a discussion regarding the $75,000 donation awarded to the city to fund the American Youth Football League (AYFL) and questions were raised as to whether the funds were actually received yet and if they were applied to the AYFL, as intended. The Recreation Department will assist the AYFL until it can stand on its own. Beverly Schwartz, of Pop Warner Football, expressed concerns about preferential treatment given to the AYFL and noted that Pop Warner has a Patriot League with no weight limits. Mr. Halloran also reported that Babe Ruth Baseball is back in the city and that the Youth Softball Program was taken over by the city due to decreased participation. Alderman McLaughlin’s motion that this item be referred to the Finance Committee with respect to the use and allocation of donated funds, was approved. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE

RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 196226 - That the Director of the Boys and Girls Club update this Board of its involvement with the students of the Healey School.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE
