Changes since BOA Submission on April 10, 2014 - Additions are underlined and deletions are crossed out DRAFT 5-21-2014 - 1 - CITY OF SOMERVILLE ORDINANCE NO. _________ IN THE BOARD OF ALDERMEN: ______ THAT THE ZONING ORDINANCES ARE HEREBY AMENDED AS FOLLOWS TO ADD TWO NEW SUBSECTIONS TO SPECIAL PERMIT WITH SITE PLAN REVIEWS AND ONE NEW SUBSECTION TO SPECIAL PERMITS: WHEREAS, it is crucial to protect the City’s affordable housing, WHEREAS, the proposal establishes findings to further strengthen the goals of the SomerVision Plan, THEREFORE, be it adopted by the Board of Aldermen, in session assembled, that the below listed sections of the Somerville Zoning Ordinance are hereby amended as identified. 1. Article 5: Special Permits, Special Permits with Site Plan Review, Site Plan Approval, and Variances, Section 5.1, Special Permits Applicability is hereby amended as follows (additions are underlined and deletions are crossed out): Section 5.1.54.H Housing Impact. Will not create adverse impacts on the stock of existing affordable housing. Section 5.1.4.I SomerVision Plan. Complies with the applicable goals, policies and actions of the SomerVision plan, including the following, as appropriate: Preserve and enhance the character of Somerville’s neighborhoods, Transform key opportunity areas, Preserve and expand an integrated, balanced mix of safe, affordable and environmentally sound rental and homeownership units for households of all sizes and types from diverse social and economic groups; and, make Somerville a regional employment center with a mix of diverse and high- quality jobs. 2. Article 5: Special Permits, Special Permits with Site Plan Review, Site Plan Approval, and Variances, Section 5.2, Special Permits with Site Plan Review: Section 5.2.5.V Housing Impact. Will not create adverse impacts on the stock of existing affordable housing. Section 5.2.5.W SomerVision Plan. Complies with the applicable goals, policies and actions of the SomerVision plan, including the following, as appropriate: Preserve and enhance the character of Somerville’s neighborhoods, Transform key opportunity areas, Preserve and expand an integrated, balanced mix of safe, affordable and environmentally sound rental and homeownership units for households of all sizes and types from diverse social and economic groups; and, make Somerville a regional employment center with a mix of diverse and high- quality jobs.
