Columbia Street for proper licenses.:
Mr. Smiljic reported that the business does not have a license to operate and that the owner will
apply for one. Alderman Heuston stated that she wants the business shut down in the application
is not submitted by the next BOA meeting (4-24-14).

the lack of proper licenses for all businesses at 495-497 Columbia Street.:

196453 - That the Clerk of Committees notify the owners of Alewife Automotive, 395
Alewife Brook Parkway, to appear at a License and Permits Committee meeting to discuss
the terms of the license.:
As complaints have been received from neighbors, the committee reviewed the terms of the
license and made suggestions lower the number of vehicles allowed on the property. Mr. Smiljic
will review the file for vehicle locations. The applicant spoke about his understanding of the
license terms. Posting NO PARKING signs at Dilboy and towing vehicles from the Dilboy lot
were also discussed.
Alderman Ballantyne’s motion that the permit for Alewife Automotive be amended for 90 days,
as follows: 9 vehicles for garage, 20 vehicles for used cars, was approved.
Alderman Heuston’s motion that the Executive Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and
Community Development (ISD) visit Alewife Automotive on a weekly basis to count the number
of vehicles on the property, was approved.

Alderman Heuston’s motion that the City Solicitor advise the Committee on Licenses and
Permits on the legality of parking vehicles with dealer plates, or no plates, at the Dilboy Field
lot, and the city's ability to ticket and tow at that lot, was approved.
