On page 3 of the draft ordinance, it was approved to remove the wording "or causes to be collected" from the first paragraph. Alderman Connolly asked that the Mayor's Office inform the committee, in writing, as to how it will enforce the particulars of the ordinance. RESULT: APPROVED

Committee Meeting April 22, 2014 Legislative Matters Committee Page 2 of 2 Printed 4/23/2014 195725 - That the City Solicitor provide this Board’s Committee on Legislative Matters with input on restricting formula businesses in Somerville by requiring specific review and oversight before they may enter central business districts.: Mr. O'Donnell and Mr. Grossfield discussed how other communities have banned formula businesses and they will provide examples of the approaches used and also provide a draft template for the committee to review relating to how other communities handle this subject. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196208 - That the City Solicitor draft an ordinance to amend the Junk Dealer Ordinance to eliminate restrictions against operating on Sundays, legal holidays, and nights.: Mr. Shapiro distributed reference information relative to the subject at hand and the committee discussed junk dealer businesses being open on Sundays. The Law Department will provide an Ordinance at the next regular meeting of the BOA. RESULT: APPROVED 196385 - That the City Solicitor determine whether the U.S. Postal Service complied with federal law and applicable guidelines regarding the closing and selling of the Union Square Post Office facility.: Mr. Shapiro submitted a records request to the Attorney General's office to get the documents regarding the relocation of retail portion of the Union Square Post Office. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE
