Dear Madam or Sir,
I submit this letter and resume to express interest in the open position with the city’s Zoning Board of Appeals.
My professional background is in architecture, in which I have practiced for over twenty years on a diverse range
of projects. More recently for almost five years I held the position Assistant Building Commissioner with the City
of Cambridge, during which time I was responsible for building code enforcement and implementation of the city’s
zoning ordinance as well as administration of the BZA’s biweekly meetings. Currently I run an architecture practice
based on Somerville.
I find myself in a place in life where I am able and interested in taking on greater civic responsibility in my own
community. Given my familiarity with the nature of zoning regulation, it seems a natural fit to apply to the Zoning
Board of Appeals where I think my skills could be useful to the City of Somerville. I hope you will consider my
application favorably in this light. I would be pleased to discuss my experience further at your convenience.
Sincerely,
SISIA DAGLIAN
