Chairman Sullivan suggested that she contact the Ward 2 Alderman to discuss the matter. There were no speakers in opposition to the item. 195198 - New Mobile Food Vendor, Tenoch Mexican.: Chairman Sullivan suggested that the owner contact Barbara Rubel, the Community Relations representative at Tufts University and the Ward 6 Alderman to inform them of his potential plans. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 195222 - New Mobile Food Vendor, Bon Me Foods.: There was no representative from Bon Me Foods present. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196484 - Public Event Permit, Charles River AlleyCats Meow Mile 5K Road Race, Highland Avenue-Summer Street and area roads, Oct 12, 6AM-12:30PM.: The committee discussed the item with the applicant and the Director of Traffic and Parking, who had no objections to the route. Chairman Sullivan suggested the applicant contact the Aldermen in Wards 3, 4, 5 and 6, since the race will go through their wards.

RESULT: APPROVED 196487 - New Mobile Food Vendor, Fugu Foods.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196691 - Renewing Outdoor Seating License, Diva Indian Bistro, 246 Elm St.: The applicant appeared before the committee. RESULT: APPROVED 196740 - Deputy Director of Communications responding to #196239, conveying a calendar of FY14 public events and providing information about the public event review process.: The City Clerk distributed a memo from the Administration stating that they are working on a response to this request. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196760 - That the Administration create a process to evaluate public events for financial impacts on city resources, and use it for all public event applications.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196765 - Submitted by NStar Electric, to install 45 feet of conduit in St James Ave from a pole to a point of pickup on St James Ave.: A representative from NSTAR, the owner and a neighbor appeared before the committee. The property owner was asked to explain why the work has been completed prior to the obtaining the committee’s approval. The committee directed the property owner to scan and email a copy of the permit with all the signatures to the City Clerk. A motion by Aldermen Sullivan and Ballantyne, that the Executive Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (ISD) provide the Committee on Licenses and Permits with an explanation of how the work was performed prior to the issuance of a permit and, additionally, whether the work has been inspected by the city engineer, was approved.

RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196789 - That the Administration appoint a point person to provide an explanation, cost analysis, and recommendation to this Board about whether an application for a public event permit should be approved, unless the application is by the City or is for a block party or other localized event on a residential street.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196799 - That the City Solicitor advise the Committee on Licenses and Permits on the legality of parking vehicles with dealer plates, or no plates, at the Dilboy Field lot, and the city's ability to ticket and tow at that lot.: The City Clerk distributed a letter from Assistant City Solicitor David Shapiro, who was not able to appear. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 196800 - That the City Clerk determine the amount of public event fees charged by other communities.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196816 - Renewing Drainlayer's License, Caruso Corp.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196869 - Renewing Garage License, Alewife Automotive, 395 Alewife Brook Pkwy.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196959 - New Extended Operating Hours License, Papa John's Pizza, 622 Somerville Ave., opening Sun-Thu to 2 AM, Fri-Sat to 3 AM.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 196979 - Submitted by NStar Electric to install 145 feet of conduit in Prospect Street from Pole 292/12 to 97 Prospect St.: RESULT: APPROVED
Committee Meeting May 28, 2014 Licenses and Permits Committee Page 4 of 4 Printed 6/5/2014 196980 - Submitted by Comcast to install a manhole in the sidewalk and 8 feet of conduit from that manhole to 265 Medford St.: Two representatives from Comcast appeared before the committee, however, the committee still has issues with the permit and the item remains in committee. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 197078 - Central Medford Trust submitting comments re: the petition for a Grant of Location by Comcast at 265 Medford St.: RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 197086 - Public Event Permit, Assembly Row Assembled Arts Market, 1 Assembly Sq Drive, Saturdays Jun 7-Sep 13, 9AM-4PM.: The applicants appeared before the committee and stated that approximately 25-50 artists would participate in the event along with 3 food trucks. The Director of Traffic and Parking has not signed off on the permit due to concerns that there are no meters in Assembly Row. The meters are in the process of being bagged and installed within the next week. There will be a $35 per day/per meter fee. The committee amended the item for the location to move to the Block 5 parking lot. RESULT: APPROVED AS AMENDED
