197259 - That the Director of Purchasing and the Recreation Superintendent submit a
monthly recreation equipment purchase report for all equipment purchased.:
Chairman Rossetti requested that reports be submitted to the committee on a monthly basis,
however, Mr. Boukili suggested the reports be submitted every 4 to 6 months, due to purchases
being made every 3 months or so. He will let the Chair know when the reports are ready.
Alderman Ballantyne asked about the process when the Recreation Department needs to order
products and suggested that the department provide the committee with a hand written note
regarding the purchase. Chairman Rossetti reiterated that the committee requests that the report
be available in 3 months and that either the Director of Purchasing or the Finance Director be
available to provide an explanation of the report.
Mr. Boukili stated that the 2 vacant positions in the department have been posted.

197291 - That the Administration add two youth outreach positions to the Recreation
Department, and that both positions be filled after the new Superintendent of Recreation is
hired and that at least one of the positions should require skills and experience in women's
leadership.:
Mr. Boukili stated the Outreach positions have not been posted yet. Alderman Niedergang asked
that the new Director of Recreation be able to staff the department as he or she sees fit and
Chairman Rossetti added that as soon as the Director's position is filled, the hiring of the
Outreach positions should be a priority.

197297 - That the Administration involve this Board’s Committee on Youth Services in the
search and selection of a new Recreation Superintendent.:
Chairman Rossetti requested that Mayor's office or Director of Personnel provide the committee
with a copy of the job posting along with a list of how the new Recreation Director's position is
being advertised and the outreach plan. Chairman Rossetti asked that the committee be involved
in the selection process. Mr. Boukili will coordinate the interview schedule with the committee.
Chairman Rossetti asked for the number of how many community members would be
participating on the selection committee. Mr. Boukili stated that the Mayor appoints the
members to the selection panel and that the Administration would ensure that the panel
understands the open meeting law requirements. Chairman Rossetti requested a memo from the
Mayor or Director of Personnel regarding the intent to hire a Director of Recreation.
