Approval of the February 5, 2015 Minutes RESULT: ACCEPTED 192806: That this Board requests that the Mayor and the Director of Personnel inform the Committee on Legislative Matters of the city’s intentions regarding the development of a domestic violence policy for city employees. A memo from the Personnel Department was distributed and reviewed by the committee. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 197889: That the Director of Commissions provide this Board with an annual update on domestic violence to include statistics and available programs. Ms. Bacci appeared for the Director of Commissions who and distributed a report on Anti Violence in Somerville. Members questioned parts of the report, including a section pertaining to restraining orders. It was pointed out that the victims’ witness advocate is paid through the Police Department and is multi-lingual. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 197980: That the Director of Personnel update this Board on implementation of the

A memo from the Personnel Department was distributed and reviewed by the committee. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 198134: Personnel Director responding to #197980 re: the city's domestic violence leave policy. A memo from the Personnel Department was distributed and reviewed by the committee. RESULT: WORK COMPLETED 197785: Proposing an Anti-Nepotism Ordinance. Mr. Shapiro sumitted a draft ordinance on anti-nepotism along with an examples from Rutherford, TN and Oakland, CA. Mr. Shapiro was asked to provide clarification on whether or not immediate family members may be employed by the city after a member of the BOA and/or School Committee is no longer in office. The Clerk of Committees was directed to send a copy of the draft ordinance to all School Committee Members. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 198318: That this Board discuss an amendment to the Snow Ordinance as it relates to the time frame for clearing sidewalks following a storm. Mr. Shapiro distributed a copy of the current amended snow ordinance for discussion. This document will be available for the February 25th Public Hearing. RESULT: KEPT IN COMMITTEE 198319: That this Board conduct a public hearing on the new snow removal regulations to solicit feedback and suggestions from the public.
